200 years in the futures, and humanity has finally found a way to travel through curved space very quicky. Up until now we have been holding on to he belief that we are the only intelligent life in the universe.
Yeah, we were wrong.
We basically get the aliens very angry about our new technology because we are now a threat to their dominance. (Yes there are other aliens... No, maybe in the sequel. NO Seth... ShaLaLomb)
We're basically given about 4 years to live.

So the human race is seperated into 2 factions.

The name of the technology that pisses off the aliens is the Astral Gate. That is its official name.
We need some plot and storyline, as well as a time line.
The campaign will start with a cinematic of the test of the Astral Gate. It works; big success; yeah, celebrate. Then move to a military official getting a report of a decrypted message attached to Astral Tachyon Pulse Emission from Andromeda space. The message contains a threat of imminent alien attack in approximately 4 years due to the threat the humanity now poses due to its acquisition of Astral Gate technology. In the ensuing chaos, the world splits into the two aforementioned factions, the Survivalist Coalition and the Resistance.
The Survivalist Coalition wants to surrender to the aliens, while the Resistance wants to fight them. Both fight each other over what to do.
